Scanning a GRN against a PO
Receiving on the handheld is the fastest, most accurate way to book goods in. Scan against the purchase order, let Fast WMS do the carton-to-piece math, and print pallet labels — all from the scanner in your hand.
Fast WMS gives floor staff a dedicated handheld interface — a separate login and single-column screens built for barcode scanners, where each scan auto-submits. Receiving against a purchase order this way validates every unit as it arrives and creates the pallets you'll put away next.
Scanning the receipt
- Log in on the handheld. Use the scanner terminal login and open the mobile goods-receipt option.
- Select the PO or ASN. Choose the purchase order or advance shipment notice you are receiving against.
- Scan each carton or item. Scan the carton or LPN barcode. Fast WMS checks it against the pending quantity and applies carton-to-piece conversion automatically.
- Confirm the quantity and disposition. Confirm the received quantity, and mark anything short or damaged appropriately — see handling short or excess delivery.
- Print the pallet label. Fast WMS creates pallets and prints the bin-ID and pallet-ID label for each one.
- Move to putaway. With pallets staged, confirm putaway to make the stock truly on-hand.
Duplicate carton or LPN scans are rejected — that stops the same physical unit being received twice. If a scan bounces as a duplicate, that carton is already booked in.
Scanned stock is not pickable yet. A scanned receipt sits in staging; inbound only commits at Putaway Confirmation. Confirm putaway before anyone tries to pick it.
